Description: This four-week course is based on the new mind-body sciences and the work of John Kabat Zinn who specializes in using mindfulness meditation to empower individuals in dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and pain. We will learn the ancient techniques of sitting meditation, walking and movement meditation, and other mindfulness practices which we can then incorporate into modern daily living — allowing us to live a more skillful and joyful life.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a brief consultation to determine whether this course will be appropriate and beneficial for you at this time.
Theodore Tsaousidis’ meditation exploration began as a teenager and then as a formal Buddhist student in 1983. Today his work is informed by over four decades of traditional Buddhist studies, meditation and social/ecological activism.
His name has been synonymous with Snow Lion: The Meditation Shop, established in 1978 in Toronto, Canada. He feels blessed that Snow Lion became an oasis where over the years thousands were able to share their everyday struggles and challenges through various meditation events and teachings — or just have a visit and a cup of tea. To focus on his increasing teaching responsibilities, Theodore closed the physical location of Snow Lion in 2019. It maintains an on-line presence.
In 2006, he was authorized by his teachers to teach Mindfulness Meditation and Buddhist studies. Desiring to teach with depth but without dogma, Theodore took teacher training for the MBSR/MBCT Programs in 2007. He believes that teaching Mindfulness informed by science, psychology, and medicine, as well as traditional Buddhism, provides a foundation to facilitate secular meditation practices that can be useful to everyone in their everyday lives.
Theodore is the Founder and Guiding Teacher for the Toronto Mindfulness Community in Toronto www.torontomindfulnesscommunity.org and Endless Ground in Owen Sound www.endlessground.org. These secular communities offer Mindfulness Meditation instruction and teach everyday tools to help with life’s inevitable valleys. Mindfulness Meditation programs, talks, workshops and retreats are scheduled throughout the year in Toronto and Owen Sound.
